Here's my follow-up of the case skin mod I did a while back. Had nothing to do after work last night so I dismantled my front panel. I sanded it all down and cleaned it to get it ready for priming. After the primer had dried for about an hour I decided to paint it. I used metallic fleck gunmetal car paint. I think it turned out great and looks MUCH better than the glaring white that I had before. Take a gander.

Before

During the painting process:

Two

Finished!
The paint is somewhat glossy so the actual awesomeness of the paint job doesn't really show through in the picture. Trust me though... awesome to the max.

Check out the new banner logo. My friend Curtis has drawn a great facsimile of me. He's still working on finishing it up. I couldn'y resist using the one he gave me to show the idea he had. Awesome job Curtis!!!

My first attempt at quitting failed. I got through the whole day but I couldn’t take it anymore so I went and bought a pack. The next step is the patch. I didn’t expect to have withdrawal symptoms but I did. I became very irritable but I managed to keep it in check for the most part. So I will buy the patch tomorrow and when I run out of smokes again I will try the patch and see what happens. The last time was easier to quit because I used to have exercise equipment in the house so I could go sit on the exercise bike for an hour to overcome the craving. When I moved I unfortunately didn’t get the bike or the bowflex we had. It’s still too cold to bike and the trails suck so that isn’t an option yet… blah blah blah… pancakes.

As you know I’ve been sick for the past week. I’ve recovered for the most part but there is still some residual sinus pressure trying to push my eyes out. Because of this illness I smoked much less as a side effect. Today I realized that I had lost my taste (if one can truly have a taste) for cigarettes. So as of ten minutes ago I decided I was going to stop smoking. I had my last one and said goodbye again to my cancerous crutch. I have the same feeling I had two years ago when I had quit originally. Having only smoked for about five months this time I figuring it will be much easier. My plan of attack is simple. Keep a pack of gum and a bottle of water handy. When I had quit last time It was a simple matter of drinking tons of water to help flush my system and chewing gum when a craving struck. I don’t foresee any problems because tonight I was with a friend for six hours and didn’t have a craving. In fact I forced myself to have one last one and discarded the remaining one.

If you are one of the people I smoke with at work I ask the following with no rudeness intended: Please don’t ask me to join you for one. I just need a week to be rid of this habit again.

Because I know this saga is riveting I will keep you posted of my successes and setbacks.

I drank this entire jug of OJ in less than twenty four hours. I'm told that vitamin C is good for you when you are sick. Well, when I go to the washroom it's like I deposited a little piece of Florida in the bowl. Sun beams out (I have to wear sunglesses to pee) and it smells like the ocean...

The zoomed in part is Dom wishing me well.

Advil cold and sinus.
Without this I would be a dead quivering mass of nasal fluid. I woke up today feeling like someone had smashed my head in while I was sleeping. I spent the day on my couch watching the Horsepower TV marathon on Spike. The first network for men. Because my sinuses feel like they were fucked without lube and my eyes have been watering A LOT. So anyone who walked in to my room would be greeted by me crying as I watched two middle aged men rebuild a chevy small block.

We have completed all the exams for the CCNA1 Network fundamentals course and I know I did well. I don’t know what my final mark was but I know I passed.

For this part of my entry I need you to imagine clown music playing in the background and envision your teacher in a clown costume.

We sat down to take the test. It was on-line and was written by the teacher. Immediately we all noticed problems with the test. Some of the questions had blank options. Other questions consisted of matching options in the left column to items on the right. One of these questions only had five answers but none of the options to match them to. On top of that he had used check boxes that only allow you to choose one answer. He told us that he would be removing the seven questions from the test. Super rad.

The lab exam involved us subnetting a network. This is where my stupidity shines through. We had to subnet a class C network and then use the subnet number corresponding to our station number. I missed that part of the explanation. So I sat there getting frustrated because I didn’t know what I was supposed to be doing with the numbers I had. I got the right answer right near the beginning but I didn’t know it. I had the most simple one in the class. I had station one so I got to use the first useable subnet. When I finally spoke to the teacher it became clear as this was the point that I learned that vital piece of information. So with him there I scribbled out the answer I already had and moved on to the troubleshooting portion of the test.

If you think missing important information like that makes me dumb wait until you hear this. Dom and I are leaving after class and he gives me shit. He had seen me freaking during the exam so he figured out the answers for me and had been trying to give them to me. In my frustration I hadn’t noticed. I knew he was trying to tell me something but I just didn’t pay attention…

I know I have been neglecting you, my faithful and only reader.

Here’s what’s going on. Last Tuesday we had our course mid-term. It was in two sections. We had a written portion and then a multiple choice section. I did great on the multiple choice section and I did fairly well on the written part. The teacher threw in a question that was on a module outside of what the exam was supposed to cover. When he was called on this yesterday in class he opted to call it a bonus question. That bastard. I wasn’t sure at all what he was looking for as an answer so I did one of those “fill the space provided with words to form barely coherent sentences in the hopes that he just skims over it and gives you the mark” maneuvers. It didn’t work at all. He wrote this in the margin “well…NO!” I’m serious, he actually wrote that.

Yesterday we handed in our cabling project. Dom and I had anticipated that it would only take us a few hours of good team work to get it done. We were wrong. We got together twice for several hours each time and still had to finish up on our spare time. The first day we worked on it we spent almost three hours deciphering what he wanted from us. Once we figured out the hieroglyphs and decoded the instructions using the Dead Sea Scrolls things moved along fairly quickly. We didn’t procrastinate either. The Muse… err… teacher was just very vague. When asked how much work he was looking for and what level of detail we got “Five pages is not enough and ten is probably too much.” I think he’s super rad! We got it done but I think we over did it. I think we provided more detail then he was looking for. We’ll see when we get it back. For all I know we probably weren’t even close to what he was looking for.

Our lab books are due tomorrow. The lab books are just a compilation of the exercises we do for each module. We had those all done so it’s no biggie. I was just at Dom’s making sure we had all we needed.

More workload. Our final exam is next Tuesday and we are still two modules away from completion. So I’m guessing our sensei will be cramming those chapters down our throats tomorrow night. Should be wicked good stuff.

On another note. Those of you who see me daily may know that about two weeks ago my muffler mount broke. I had paid a hundred and seventy five dollars to have my after market muffler installed and Midas has a good warranty on their work so they offered to fix it for free. Free is good. However when I got it back I noticed that the the gap between the muffler tips and the bumper was almost three inches. Ugly, really fucking ugly. The original install they did had a space that was maybe half an inch. It looked great. I brought it back and they fixed it. In doing so they had to weld a new mounting bracket. They burned part of the carpeting in my trunk. When he told me this I drew breath in order to howl my rage at him but without skipping a beat he told me a factory replacement had already been ordered. General Motors charges a thousand dollars (Canadian… so like six American dollars) for moulded trunk carpeting. I looked at the damage and it’s completely hidden in the spare tire compartment. You can’t see it at all. So I asked if I could get my brakes replaced instead. Believe it or not this saves them a lot of money so they instantly agreed. I get new brakes tomorrow so I save eight hundred dollars. If you need work done go to Midas. They have great service.

If you read all of this I commend you. I really should start spreading stuff like this over a few posts…
