Ten days reprieve...

Sadly it's the last day of my vacation. The good news is that I accomplished my four goals. Sleep, time with my girlfriend, shopping in Montreal and hanging out with Dom in a pub. We had a bunch of people join us at The Royal Oak and we drank, were merry and lamented over our jobs and fallen co-workers. It was great. Today is my last day off, I start work again at five in the morning tomorow. Needless to say I will most likely be tired.

Now that my break is over I think I need to set some more goals to move towards in the next few months. First off I will be taking the two Cisco certification exams before the end of November. By december first at the latest I will be a Certified Cisco Network Associate. Hopefully the fancy title will allow me to get a real job. One that I can be proud of. A job that doesn't make McDonalds employees giggle when you tell them. That being said, goal number two is a real job. It is my new year's resolution... in advance. In between goal one and two I have a sub-goal. I will continue to point out the foolishness of our leadership when stupid things are done. I was moved back to phones for this reason and now I really have nothing to lose. If what I was doing could be punished officially then it would have been done by now.

I don't think my goals are that big so I will hopefully be able to report meeting my goals very soon.

Well, back to work I go!

Montreal

I'm about a three quarters of the way through my vacation now. Christine and I had our montreal trip and I had a great time. She helped me find clothes that were my style but "better". This post would be longer but as I write this she is waiting for me to go over for dinner. Don't worry... I let her know I had to finish up this post and the album before going... anyways. Here's the album for our little trip!

Montreal memories!!!

Ten months finished

Well. The course is finished! We did the final test for the class tonight. The test had some extremely verbose questions and seemed to focus on technology that is on it's way out... There was an inordinate amount of questions on ISDN. Don't get me wrong, it's good to know this stuff. It just felt like it was the focus of the exam. Dom and I felt lost during the exam. Either way, it's over and I got an A- in the course. We still need to go and take the certification exam but that class is over. Dom and I are setting our goal to have the CCNA 640-821 Intro and CCNA 640-811 ICND exams done by the end of November. Which means the studying isn't over quite yet.

The photo above is of Tenth LIne road. Just down the street from where I live.

Holy shit I need this time off...

So tomorrow is my last class for Cisco. I believe that I have enough margin for error that it is extremely improbable that I would fail at this point I think I could get ten percent on the exam and still pass the class. I'll aim a little higher of course. This just means that I don't have to stress over the test... Not that I normally do... It's just that this time I can not stress over it for a reason.

As of last Sunday I am no longer a technical chat agent where I work. They made a "lateral transfer". That means that I was moved from one section to another within the same level. I was moved back to phone support. Why you ask? Well I had it explained to me with a lot of dishonest words. It went a little like "Blah blah blah jargon jargon jargon fair to other team mates yada yada new software". This is what I heard from my direct superior. I can't say for sure if he was told to do this or if he pushed for it. Sadly I was told one thing and other people were told something else. Apparently I stir up trouble at work. In my three years there I have never been disciplined, sanctioned or spoken to regarding anything. I have only called in sick seven times this year so I am at a loss to explain it. I have been told by numerous people that I was selected by my immediate supervisor. Everyone except me has been told this. If I sound bitter about it well I am. I earned the position in chats and I worked hard. I'm supposed to take consolation in the fact that "it's not a punishment". Well Matt, you and Devin told everyone except me that it was a punishment. I'm disappointed in both of you. You have been very two-faced about this whole thing. I don't care that I have been transferred. I'm mad because I apparently did something that was never mentioned and I wasn't given a chance to correct anything. Feel free to slap the "bitter agent" label you guys use on to me. It's a lot easier than actually addressing and correcting issues isn't it?

On a lighter note I started my vacation today and immediately felt much more relaxed. I went out and snapped a whole bunch of pictures, the above image being one of them. I intend to relax, hang out with Christine, go to Montreal with Christine (we are both working at making me more presentable... At my request... I need help)and hang out with Dom. I have ten days with no obligations or work related responsibilities. Woot Woot.

If you know me and intend to comment please don't mention the company I work for. I will delete or edit the comment if you do. They would actually try and get me terminated if the company or contract I work for was named in a negative fashion. I think they would even come after me if I was jubilantly endorsing them.

Well, off to do nothing!

It's the end of summer. My whole life I have felt it's the worst part of the year. All the good times I had growing up took place in the searing heat of mid-summer... Well, that's not entirely true. Let's say that the most vivid memories I have are from the summer time. Our entire family used to go camping at the same camp site. We would take up a lot of space, eat a lot of food and make a lot of noise. Good times. The last memory of camping that I have etched in to my head was when I was eighteen... Man that was a long time ago... I stashed some beer in the dark in a patch of poison ivy. Pure fun.

The campsite has since closed because our wonderful government decided it would be better as a day park. Our government closed my childhood.

Well, see you in 10 months hot sun!
