Ambivalent One

My friend Jeff at work loaned me his Sigma 600mm reflex lens. These are pictures I have taken with it so far. Yeah? They look blurry? That was totally on purpose. Dumbass.

This is the movie you need to watch if you like martial arts. I'm positive that every single cast member received a flying elbow to the head at some point. This flick was straight out Muy Thai craziness up until they got Hollywood on my ass and started blowing stuff up. At one point there was even a prostitute that ended up overdosing. Maybe something was lost in translation but it just didn't seem to fit in to the story.

Here's your summary:
-Small village has the head of their idol stolen from their shrine (The head of the Ong Bak statue). They fear it will bring misfortune to the village.
-Small village sends out a young warrior to get it back.
-Character named Stinky Balls steals the Hero's money.
-Cut to scene showing the village being ravaged by drought (to me it seemed like he's been gone at most one day).
-EVERYONE gets their asses kicked.
-prostitute sister overdoses after her dealer stuffs her mouth full of coke.
-EVERYONE gets their asses kicked.
-The head is returned to the village, hero gets a hero's welcome. As all heroes should.

Really though. See it. The only downside was that the girl protagonist character cries and whines when her sister dies and it was so shrill that I completely lost any trace of sympathy. It made me want to punch her in the mouth. Everything else was awesome if you like martial arts flicks.

As Tina has so eloquently pointed out, and I quote:"..... *tumbleweeds roll by* ....." I have been sorely remiss in my blogging duties. Much has happened and yet write I do not. Keep in mind that when I say "much" I mean "much" when compared to "nothing". Yeah. There have been two noteworthy events since my last post. We had Christine, Tina and Dom over for a fondue night and I had my first Mont. Tremblant experience. Let me tell you.

We had all planned to have this fondue gathering for a while. In all honesty I had no clue until about a week after it had been planned that we were actually doing this. I was there while the decision was made... physically anyways. My mind was most likely somewhere else or there were flashing lights or something equally distracting to me. Those of you who know me have no doubt experienced my distractability. You guys get annoyed but if you just carried a blue LED with you while you are talking there would be no distractions for me. But I digress. Fondue night was the twenty-ninth of January. I think. It was so long ago.




We started with a cheese fondue which was generously provided by Dom and Tina. It came with a dire warning... "Thou shalt not drink water whilst feasting on thine melted cheese. Heed not this warning and thou shalt experience the heinous rumblings of Satan's offspring in thine hindquarters". Actually it turns out that if you eat a cheese fondue you should drink wine or juice or whatever. Just not water or you will get an upset stomach. Anyways. It was deeeeeeelicious. We followed up with an oil and "Chinese" fondue. The Chinese fondue is a delicious broth that I preferred for cooking meats. The oil made the meat tough so I limited myself to cooking vegetables in the oil. For dessert we had chocolate fondue. Long story short, melted chocolate that we dip fruit in. Also quite delicious.

So to sum this all up, fondue equals awesome and I will not use the word fondue again for a couple of years. Has anyone ever written a blog entry this long about a fondue party? Can it even be considered a party or is it merely a lengthy meal?

Christine, a group of friends from work and I all took a day off for a ski/boarding/snow blade adventure. It was amazing. Even the bunny hills were amazing. You should all go. I would have more to say on this topic but words will not suffice. I'm waiting for some photos that my friend Sheldon took of us. If it turns out you will see the Tremblant village below us in the background. I'll put the photos up when I get them!
