Final inspection.

This morning we had our final inspection on the house at eight. I was so excited that I couldn't fall asleep... So I ended up getting up at six forty five in the morning and doing an inspection having only gotten maybe four hours of sleep. It was great though! They finished everything up nicely from when I snuck my peek last Saturday. We only found a few minor cosmetic issues and one structural problem. The structural problem was the little roof over the garage. It seemed to be a little warped. Actually, it was warped enough that I had them put it on the list of things to fix. I don't want no warped roofing at all. I was just worried that there would be problems inside that would require them coming back in to the house once we've moved in. The roof can be done anytime, not just when we are there. The inspector with us showed us around and took notes on any small problems we found. When we first arrived he was finishing up the brass trim around the fireplace... He said the fireplace guys were supposed to do that for him so he was going to try and get free stainless steel trim for us. He got it and gave it to us for free. It was a fairly expensive upgrade if we had chosen to get it. So, the guy was extremely nice... he also gave us some spare light strips for the bathroom. Overall the inspection was very enjoyable.

After the inspection, which took three and a half hours I rushed to work. I ended up getting there a little before noon and worked through until five fifteen. I felt bad leaving Erin there alone to handle all the work until eight but we had no choice. We had to meet with the lawyer at six. So it was a busy day. All that's left is getting the keys Tuesday, receiving the furniture Friday and painting all weekend. We move in on the eighth of April. Wicked good stuff.

One more week!

I was leaning on the front door to peek in and it opened... So I screamed in asking if anyone was there. There was no one. So I snuck in and took a bunch of photo's. This one was my favorite because it shows how AWESOME our house will be.

Brick done!

The brick is done. They haven't done the siding yet... However when I looked through the windows I was delighted to see that all the drywall and plaster is done. We are about two weeks away from doing our inspection of the house. This is very exciting!

More tiltshift...

Tilt shift

Dom found this cool photographic effect called Tiltshift in an article on Boing Boing. Essentially it let you take a panoramic or aerial shot and make it look like it's a miniature model. It's really simple in Photoshop. You just need to make a gradient mask, lens blur and then tweak the colour to make it look fake.

Here is the before.

This is the after.
