London, Ontario. First time ever seeing a real turtle. We found it in a drainage channel. A giant crab apple patch (at least it seemed to be at the time). You encouraged me to ride down a steep embankment on a bike that was barely suited to flat surfaces. It was awesome. Playing monopoly in the tent trailer your parents had in the yard for hours. That time you guys built the giant lego CN Tower. We had a disk gun that we drove our parents crazy with. For some reason I ended up shooting a bunch of them on the roof. The drive from London to Brantford for the family reunion in the Suburban. We sat in the back before it stopped being safe to be in a car without a seatbelt. There was always a pool and Marco Polo. Exploring the dunes at Sandbanks and finding that group of topless sun bathers. The big Hawley breakfast. It was always summer. Except when it was Christmas at Granny’s. Remember the time we got the calculator watches? That was rad. I remember when you guys lived in the Chimo hotel. I think it was while the house was being built. There was one place you lived near Granny. You guys had built what I remember to be one of the more amazing snow forts that I can recall.
The memories are disjointed and timeless. I don’t recall them in chronological order. Just flashes of the times we had growing up. They are all things in common though. You, our family and I are in all of them laughing and having fun.
You will be missed.
If you knew Jeremy please leave a memory you have with him in the comments or e-mail it to me. I would like to try and put something together for Rick and Rose on how Jeremy enriched our lives. Feel free to give my e-mail address to anyone that knew him and wants to share something. Have them send their name, how they knew him as well as the story they want to share.
